Spring Mount Fuji Lidded Container

The sloping shape of this container echoes the sides of Mount Fuji, while the decoration brings in the nature of spring. Fuji represents happiness to me, so I wanted the mountain's presence to be felt in the form as well as the surface. The lid completes this small meeting of landscape and everyday object.

One-of-a-kind wheel-thrown dark stoneware container with slip, underglaze, and carved details. Lid included.
